Tartare sauce (Mrs Beeton's)
Ideal for fried and grilled fish, certain meats and salads.
- 142 ml (5 fl oz - ¼ pint) mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon chopped gherkin or capers
- ½ teaspoon finely chopped shallot (or onion)
Chill and use as required
