Try Basa - it's amazingly cheap, nicer than cod (IMHO), firm like monkfish, it tastes really fishy and it's sustainable.

I saw a TV news report / blind tasting a few months back where almost everyone thought the basa was the best (and therefore thought it was the cod).

The reason it was in the news was because chip shops had been selling the cheaper basa as cod.

I think I did see some in the place where I get the mutton, but all their fish is whole and I do not do heads, eyes, skin etc. Could not get cod anyway so having to change recipe to Tuna curry :-( --JuliaBalbilla 10:51, 1 October 2010 (BST)
