The Dutch way of cooking steak is not unusual, except perhaps in the addition of milk to make a sauce.

Method

  1. Rub the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the butter in a frying pan until very hot.
  3. Sauté the steaks on each side until they are cooked to your liking.
  4. Remove them from the pan and wrap in foil to rest for a few minutes.
  5. Add the milk to the pan and stir up the brown bits on the bottom.
  6. Plate up the steaks and pour the sauce over them.

Serving suggestions

Dutch steaks are always served with fried potatoes and peas.
