A rich onion casserole.

Mise en place

  • Preheat oven to 180° C (350° F - gas 4).


  1. Stew the onions in the butter and milk in a pan until soft.
  2. Transfer to a casserole dish.
  3. Beat together the yolks, cream, salt and pepper and pour over the onions.
  4. Sprinkle with the cheese and breadcrumbs.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes.

Serving suggestions

Serve with salad.

A Dutch or Swiss style cheese would be the best to use for this dish.
