Shortcrust pastry (TM)
I am very suspicious of ready-made pastry as it can contain ingredients which are not required to be listed on the packaging, such as chicken feathers and even human hair. You can buy pastry which specifically states that it does not contain such dodgy ingredients, but it is rather expensive and making your own in a Thermomix is a doddle.
- 350g plain or pastry flour
- 130g cold butter, chopped into small pieces
- 70g water
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Tip all of the ingredients into the bowl in the order given 15 seconds / Speed 6
Use for savoury pies and pasties.
This method will not form it into a ball, so you will have to do that yourself, but it is easy enough.
- This is a translation of a recipe in Thermomix TM31 - Imprescindible para tu cocina which is the book supplied with Spanish TMXs.
You can leave out the sugar if you wish.
