Baskeriu cheese

Origin

  • Baskeriu is produced under the Capitoul brand in the Haute-Garonne département of the French region of Midi-Pyrénées. Capitoul is a brand of cheeses made by Les Fromageries Occitanes who are a subsidiary of Eurilait, one of France’s largest dairy co-operatives.

  • Hard, pressed, uncooked.

Milk type

Aroma and taste

  • Rich, buttery and nutty. Very similar to Ossau-Iraty, but produced outside of the region specified by the latter's PDO.

Matured for 6 months. Medium strength.

Goes well with fruity red, full bodied red or dry fruity white wines.
