Produced from the cream of buffalo milk, Mascarpone di Bufala di Battipaglia, is a spreadable yellowish white cheese from the province of Salerno. Although it is made elsewhere in Campania, that of Battipaglia is considered to be one of the best, especially when produced in the spring.

The musky aroma of this cheese is more intense than that made with cows’ milk. It is unsalted and has a sweet flavour. It is produced throughout the year and is sold in cans, each cheese weighing from 250-300 g
