Like the sound of this. Have you made it before? --JuliaBalbilla 19:34, 29 October 2010 (BST)

No, unusually I've not - I can't even remember where it came from. Looking at the recipe, there seems to be room for improvement as 3 bulbs of garlic in a 1 litre jar is going to leave them a little lonely! Either more garlic or less liquid. It sounds good though.

I'm becoming a big fan of home-made pickles and sauces, apart from a few total failures, all have been way superior to any commercial product. Pickled shallots in sherry vinegar being a fine example - I don't think you can even buy such a thing.

Re the garlic being lonely, I will fill a 1 litre jar with the cloves of garlic and see how the other ingredients work out quantity wise. Doing this tomorrow as the 12 lemons are arrivng then as part of our 4th food delivery in 10 days. MAS wants to start stocking up for Christmas, hence I was turning out cupboards and defrosting freezers a couple of weeks ago. Ah, ha! As I type I can hear the stick blender being used so I suspect he has made a lumpy sauce. He is making chicken pie.

Hi Chef, I think you are right about it being an 'Acquired Taste'. Damned cold here but had to have back door open to stop me coughing and eyes drying up. I used crushed chillies, so hopefully do not have to make them into a powder. I think it will be a 2 litre affair. --JuliaBalbilla 22:16, 10 November 2010 (GMT)
