Johnny cakes (V)
- 500g plain flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 30g vegetable oil
- oil for deep frying
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
- Mix in the oil and enough water to make a stiff dough.
- Shape them into 5 cm balls and deep fry them in moderately hot oil until they are brown.
Serve for breakfast.
