Thoughts and ideas...

Have done some research and come up with the following that may be of help: [16/08/2009 09:38:15] Julia Balbilla: SOUTH-EAST ASIA: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam

EAST ASIA: China, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea

INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives

MIDDLE EAST: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Gaza Strip, Israeli, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria (technically some of the Muslim states of the former USSR and North Africa come under Middle East, but as we have Russian and North African cats, we don’t need to include them). Alternatively we could add such recipes to Middle East, as well as Russia or North Africa as appropriate. I would also include Afghanistan in this cat as well. The food is a mixture of M. East and Indian, but as it is NOT part of the Indian sub-continent. I think M.East is the more suitable. [16/08/2009 10:51:19] Julia Balbilla: It then occurred to me that Africa will need to be categorised at some stage, ie if and when we get enough recipes: [16/08/2009 10:51:45] Julia Balbilla: NORTH AFRICA: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Western Sahara

WESTERN AFRICA: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal. Sierra Leone, Togo

EASTERN AFRICA: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles, Réunion and Mayotte.

SOUTHERN AFRICA: Angola, Botswana, Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe

CENTRAL AFRICA: Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Zaire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe [16/08/2009 10:53:21] Julia Balbilla: North Africa has its own cat, as we know, but not sure about the others. I would suggest that West, East and Central all be lumped together and Southern could have one to itself.
