Purple Romanesco broccoli

Purple Romanesco broccoli also know as Purple Roman cauliflower, Purple Broccolo Romanesco, Purple Romanesque cauliflower, or just Purple Romanesco is a broccoli with a purple flower head.

It looks almost as though it could be either a cauliflower or a broccoli though I would cook it and use it as I would normal broccoli.

It is certainly a handsome vegetable. Our local shop M&B, Outwell had some in recently and the sight of them stops you in your tracks - you just have to buy one! Only 85p (November 2020).

  Unfortunately, most of the colour remains in the washes when boiled

  After boiling, it looks like normal broccoli

  Steaming purple broccoli is the best way to keep the colour
