Hmm. I admit it's not much, though this is normally part of other dishes in a meal and it is more of a noodle dish than a meat dish. I have not made this particular dish (hence no photo). I am rather ignorant about Oriental food as it is either too fishy, too mushroomy, or too meaty. However, I thought I would do something Oriental with chicken for MAS and Robin (MFA in Rugby). Is it (in general) a restaurant rather than authentic dish? According to Deh-Ta Hsuing (Chinese Cookery Secrets - How to Cook Chinese Restaurant Food at Home), for 4 people, you should use 225g chicken breast to 250g dried weight of noodles. I did work out that you probably hadn't tried it, as unlike me, you are very good at remembering to take pictures! --JuliaBalbilla 13:41, 27 February 2010 (GMT)

Tried and tested

I made this for 2 people as a complete meal with no accompaniments. I used 225 g of chicken, 100 g egg noodles, the remaining ingredients as listed, a can of white beans and a handful of peas as the vegetables. It was plenty and very good though admittedly not very authentic, use beansprouts if you want that!

Follow-up - Just seen a Nigel Slater Chicken chow-mein recipe for 2, similar to this one and that serves 2 with 100g of chicken.

Oddly enough, I made this yesterday, although it was an adapted version of the recipe in Chinese Cookery Secrets - How to Cook Chinese Restaurant Food at Home. To make it more substantial, I allowed one chicken breast per person (I forgot to weigh them). I used beansprouts and French beans as the veg. So basically 4 breasts and 250g noodles worked out just right for 2 small eaters, 1 medium eater and 1 very greedy eater.
