Queso de Piedra cheese
Queso de Piedra is a cows’ or goats’ milk cheese from the village Piedra near Los Carriles and Posada de Llanes.
The curds are drained in cheesecloth and allowed to mature for a month. It is a semi-hard cheese, cylindrical in shape and weighs around one kilogram. The interior is a cream colour when made with goats’ milk and white when cows’ milk is used. The rind is white which can darken.
