Lou pevre cheese

Origin

  • This cheese is also known as Tome au Poirvre and Lou Pèbre and is produced in a single farm in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence département of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur of France. It has all the characteristic and individual aromas of the south of France.

Cheese group

  • Soft cheese, of the Banon type, with a white bloomy rind, which can be covered in ground peppercorns, in which case it is known as Lou pevre poivre

Milk type

Aroma and taste

  • By using a unique maturation method, the cheese has a peppery taste and is sprinkled with a little cumin. The spiciness reduces the acidity of the fresh goats' milk.

Strength and texture

  • Medium to strong flavour, matured 3 weeks. It has a fine texture and a thin, dry, rough rind, which can be coated with ground peppercorns.

Serving suggestions

It is good served at the end of a meal.
