Mise en place

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F - gas 6)

  1. Gently sauté the onions and mushrooms in the butter.
  2. In a greased casserole dish, make four layers starting with half of the potatoes.
  3. Next, make a layer of all of the onions, followed by all of the mushrooms and all of the egg.
  4. Finally add a layer of the remaining potatoes.
  5. Season each layer with a little basil, salt and pepper.
  6. Mix together the wine, sour cream, and flour and spoon over the top layer of potatoes.
  7. Garnish with the parsley and bake at 200°C (400°F - gas 6) for 15 minutes.

Personally I loathe mushrooms so I will be trying it with sauerkraut instead.
