Cachapas are a part of traditional Venezuelan cuisine. Like arepas it is a popular "outdoors" food, particularly in roadside stands.

This version is the corn (maize) variety


Ingredients

Method

  1. Remove kernels form husk of corn using a sharp knife
  2. Pureé in a blender
  3. Mix in the sugar, milk, and salt
  4. Heat a griddle pan to medium heat, lightly coat with corn oil
  5. Spoon mixture onto hot griddle to form "pancakes" of any desired size
  6. Cook for 2 minutes on each side, and serve with grated cheese
