Blueberries

The edible blueberry is a false berry from the are flowering plant, blueberry, genus Vaccinium, sect. Cyanococcus. The species are native only to North America. They are shrubs varying in size from 10 cm tall to 4 m tall; the smaller species are known as "lowbush blueberries", and the larger species as "highbush blueberries".

When mature, the fruit has a sweet taste, with variable acidity.

The blueberry fruit is one of the growing 'superfruits'.

Personal note: I had planned to grow blueberries in the garden because I noticed how expensive they were, but when I tried uncooked (supermarket) blueberries, I was very disappointed. To me they were bland in flavour, no acidity at all and a slightly unpleasant glutinous texture. Needless to say, I am not growing them.
