This is just a reminder to anyone with a breadmaker to try this recipe out. Whilst it won't have the shape of a French baguette, the flavour and texture is pretty close.

We have a Panasonic SD253 breadmaker and it is wonderful. We have used it twice a week for the last year or so to make white or wholemeal loaves. However, we have only recently tried some of the other recipes that came with the breadmaker. Wow, they are really good.

If you have a Panasonic breadmaker, I urge you to try this recipe out!. Also, if you wish to use genuine French bread flour, it can be obtained from Wessex Flour Mill or one of their suppliers

If this loaf does not rise

  • Although the instruction leaflet specifies the timer can be used with this recipe, we have found that if the timer is set for 12 hours, so it's ready for the morning, this loaf often fails to rise.
