I had forgotten this recipe and was just tidying some pages (the &amp;#039;big hitters&amp;#039; - shredded suet, strangely) and when I saw the picture I remembered how good it was.  I love crispy dumplings - be a nice meal for a cold winters day.&lt;br /&gt;

When I first made this recipe, I don&amp;#039;t recall grilling the dumplings to finish, though I think I must have.  The second time I made this they had not browned, even after 45 minutes cooking.  They browned and crisped up almost immediately after a few minutes uder a hot grill - very good they were too!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
I am also going to remove the reduction stage, I didn;t bother with it this time and it was not needed.  Easier and simpler now.&lt;br /&gt;
