Poneau is a [[Cows&amp;#039; milk cheese|cows&amp;#039; milk cheese]] based on Pont l’Évêque which is ripened with Pommeau ([[Apple brandy|apple brandy]]) and covered with [[Almond|almond]] and [[Walnut|walnut]] slivers. This explains its name as a word combination of Pont and Pommeau. Pommeau gives the [[Cheese|cheese]] the slightly sweet taste of [[Apple|apple]] which wonderfully combines with that of [[Almonds|almonds]] and walnut.  It is produced in the Nord-Pas de Calais region of [[France]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
With its smooth, creamy texture, it is ideal for the classic [[Cheese|cheese]] plate in its splint box bottom.  Square in shape, it has a nice [[Caramel|caramel]] coloured exterior and a creamy, yellowish interior.  It develops a light aroma of [[Apples|apples]] and [[Nuts|nuts]] and has a [[Fat|fat]] to dry matter content of 45%.&lt;br /&gt;
