Traditionally, an &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;onigiri&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; is filled with [[pickled ume]] ([[umeboshi]]), salted [[salmon]], [[katsuobushi]], [[kombu]], [[tarako]], or any other salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. Because of the popularity of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;onigiri&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in Japan, most convenience stores there stock &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;onigiri&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; with various fillings and flavours.
