===Method===

| Melt the [[Butter|butter]] in a [[Saucepan|saucepan]], and sauté the [[Garlic|garlic]] until golden. Reserve.
| Add the [[Stock|stock]] and [[Potatoes|potatoes]] to the pan and bring to the [[Boil|boil]].
| Reduce the heat, cover and [[Simmer|simmer]] until the [[Potatoes|potatoes]] are cooked - about 10 minutes or so.
| Return the [[Garlic|garlic]] to the pan and add the [[Marjoram|marjoram]] and [[Egg|egg]] - pour the egg in a thin stream.
| Remove from the heat.
| Serve in [[Soup|soup]] bowls in which you have placed cubes of [[Cheese|cheese]] and the [[Diced|diced]] [[Ham|ham]], if using.
