Friesian clove cheese (Friese Nagelkaas) is a [[Gouda cheese|Gouda]]-type produced in the Friesian Islands.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It is a semi-hard, cows’ [[milk]] [[cheese]] and can be made from either whole or skimmed [[milk]].  Sometimes fresh [[buttermilk]] is also added.  It has a yellowish-brown rind.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Spiked with [[cloves]] and at times [[cumin]] as well, the [[cheese]] has a tangy, spicy taste, but mild at the same time.  It can be matured for 3-6 months and is produced in wheels of up to 10 kg.&lt;br /&gt;
