| 1 teaspoon [[Allspice|allspice]]
| 2 teaspoons [[Cornflour|cornflour]]
| 225g dark [[Brown|brown]] or [[Muscovado sugar|muscovado sugar]]

| Preheat [[Oven|oven]] to 200C. Chop [[Beetroot|beetroot]] into skinny strips and arrange in an [[Oven|oven]] proof dish
| Mix [[Sugar|sugar]] and [[Vinegar|vinegar]] in saucepan. [[Simmer]] for 5 minutes
| Reserve 2 tblspns of [[Juice|juice]]. Add the [[Rest|rest]] with the [[Zest|zest]] and the of [[Allspice|allspice]] to the pan
| Mix the reserved [[Juice|juice]] with the [[Cornflour|cornflour]]. Add to [[Juice|juice]] in pan, heating gently, stirring constantly until the mixture has thickened a bit
| Pour over the [[Beetroot|beetroot]] and place in [[Oven|oven]] for 8 minutes until warmed through. Serve
