| Heat the [[Oil|oil]] and melt half the [[Butter|butter]] in a deep pan and add the [[Onions|onions]].
| [[Fry]] until soft, stir in the [[Garlic|garlic]], then cook for a further minute so.
| Add the [[Wine|wine]] and [[Simmer|simmer]] until it has reduced by one quarter.
| Add the [[Stock|stock]] and bring to the [[Boil|boil]].
| Add the [[Cloves|cloves]], season, then cover and [[Simmer|simmer]] for 40 minutes.
| Meanwhile, heat the remaining [[Butter|butter]] and [[Fry|fry]] the [[Bread|bread]] cubes and the 2 [[Cloves|cloves]] of Crushed [[Garlic|garlic]] until the bread is crisp and [[Brown|brown]].
| Ditch the [[Garlic|garlic]] and put the [[Bread|bread]] in the bottom of the [[Soup|soup]] bowls.
| Pour over the [[Soup|soup]] and sprinkle it with the [[Parmesan]].
