The recipe linked for "hot water crust pastry" seems to be for the thicker, greasier, pork pie crust- strictly to be eaten cold. The macaroni pie crust uses the same method but different quantities of ingredients and a much thinner crust.

I want to try and make my own macaroni pies and update this page, but in the meantime i suggest anyone trying these search for "scotch pie recipe" and use one of those to make the pastry. Shortcrust pastry i feel would be totally wrong! ;)
