About Boerenkaas cheese
Literally meaning 'farmer's cheese' Boerenkaas is a type of farmhouse Gouda. It is made from unpasteurised cows' milk and is produced in a round-edged, flat-topped wheel with a golden rind. It weighs between 9 and 14 kg and can be matured for anything between four months and seven years.
The cheese has a complex and sweet but piquant flavour and contains small holes. </div> |}
