Quargel cheese

About Quargel cheese

Quargel is an Austrian, sour milk curd cheese which is also produced in Germany.

Having a red or golden-brown mould residue, the cheese has a natural rind, with a pale yellow and springy texture. Its flavour can be sour and savoury through to tangy.

Quargel is produced in 10 cm long rolls which are about 4.5 cm in diameter. Each roll weighs 125 g and is cut into smaller slices..
