Hootons homegrown.jpg

Based in Anglesey, Wales, this marvellous farm shop supplies products, locally grown from the surrounding area including, but not limited to: beef from Welsh black cattle, Welsh lamb, pork, bacon, sausages, a large range of local vegetables, Welsh cheeses, home-made apple juices and even a range of biscuits and pastries.

The Anglesey farm shop was the one featured in episode 2 of the Hairy Bikers series where they covered the food of Anglesey. Hooton's are also winners of the Gary Rhodes' Local Food Heroes 2008. This is shop where I discovered Black bomber cheese on a recent holiday. Thank you.

Bikers (and others) note: The Anglesey shop has a good cafe with a comprehensive menu from local produce including an all-day Welsh breakfast.

Not a stone's-throw away is Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. For me, the place to see in Plas Newydd is the huge second hand bookshop located in the cafe! When I last visited I bought hard-backs for £1.00 and paperbacks for 50p.
