Crema de Queso cheese
Crema de Queso is an artisan cheese made from unpasteurised ewes’ milk of the Churra breed of sheep, and has no colourings, flavourings or preservatives. The sheep graze on fallow, stubble and alfalfa in the Villerias de Campos area in the province of Palencia.
It is cream cheese which is spreadable and light. It is compact and very buttery with a steel white colour in its natural form. It has an aroma of cooked milk, but not sharp and it melts in the mouth.
The cheese is produced in three varieties:
Semicurado Natural, as described above
Semicurado Finas Hierbas, with added garlic and parsley
Semicurado Queso Azul, which is blue-veined and almost rubbery, but not sharp.
Not available in the UK, you might like to try buying the cheese through directodelcampo.com, although I am not sure if the producers will send it outside of Spain.
