This wiki cheese category page contains detailed information and photographs of cheeses produced in the country of Switzerland.

Further information

Switzerland is home to about 450 varieties of cheese. Cows' milk is used in about 99 percent of the cheeses produced. The remaining share is made up of ewes' and goats' milk. In spite of popular belief, most Swiss cheese has no holes - it is just that Emmentaler AOC, which is the most exported cheese, is commonly referred to as 'Swiss Cheese' abroad.

Errors and omissions

If you are a cheese producer and your cheese does not appear to be listed on Cookipedia or the information on your cheese is incorrect or out of date, please do talk to us via the Contact the Editor link at the top of this page and we will update the information on your cheese.
