Birdwood Traditional Double Gloucester cheeseis an organic, unpasteurised, Shorthorn cows’ milk cheese made by Melissa Ravenhill of Woefuldane Farm, Minchinhampton near Stroud. See also: http://www.woefuldaneorganics.co.uk/

Produced with milk from their own farm-assured herd, the cheese is made in deep rounds, which are firm but supple and smooth. Beneath the rind the texture is firm and the colour is a deep orange, with a nutty and mellow flavour. It is matured for at least 3 months.

The cheese, which is suitable for vegetarians, is only available at the farmer’s markets in Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester and Cheltenham and a few local shops. However, you can buy the cheese by mail order, directly from the farm.
